The intrinsic oncolytic specificity of vesicular stomatitis virus (VSV) is currently being exploited to develop alternative therapeutic strategies for hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). We have observed earlier that, in contrast to cultured human HCC cells, primary human hepatocytes (PHHs) are refractory to VSV infection.
