Cladosporol was isolated from the fermentation broth of Alternaria alternata var. monosporus obtained from the inner bark of the yew tree and mutated for many generations. We investigated the antitumor effects of cladosporol in vitro and in vivo. The growth-inhibitory effects of cladosporol in vitro against six human cancer cell lines were examined using the 3-(4,5-dimethylthiazol-2-yl)-2,5-diphenyltetrazolium bromide (MTT) method. The results showed that cladosporol selectively killed cancer… Expand
Cladosporol a stimulates G1‐phase arrest of the cell cycle by up‐regulation of p21waf1/cip1 expression in human colon carcinoma HT‐29 cells
TLDR
This is the first report showing that cladosporol A inhibits colon cancer cell proliferation by modulating p21waf1/cip1 expression, and suggests that the drug may play a role in the control of cancercell proliferation. Expand

TLDR
In mice xenograft models, Alternol or Alteronol potently suppresses tumor growth with no obvious toxicity to the host with a wide therapeutic index over 30-fold. Expand
Panax ginseng polysaccharide induces apoptosis by targeting Twist/AKR1C2/NF-1 pathway in human gastric cancer.
TLDR
Findings suggested that PGP2a could be developed as a novel antitumor agent acting on Twist related gene for human gastric cancer therapy. Expand
Characterization of Cladosporols from the Marine Algal-Derived Endophytic Fungus Cladosporium cladosporioides EN-399 and Configurational Revision of the Previously Reported Cladosporol Derivatives.
TLDR
Four new cladosporol derivatives were isolated and identified from the marine algal-derived endophytic fungus Cladosporium clamsporioides EN-399 and showed antibacterial activity against Escherichia coli, Micrococcus luteus, and Vibrio harveyi and cytotoxicity against A549, Huh7, and LM3 cell lines.
