Arachidonic acid (AA) is metabolized by the cytochrome P-450 (P-450) epoxygenase pathway to epoxyeicosatrienoic acids (EETs) in the brain parenchymal tissue and perivascular astrocytes. EETs dilate cerebral microvessels and enhance K+ current in cerebrovascular smooth muscle cells.
