Inherited platelet disorders encompass a heterogeneous group of bleeding disorders where a variety of molecular defects can affect platelet number, function or both. The defects involve deficiencies or dysfunction of platelet receptors, signaling pathways, cytoskeletal proteins, granule contents and abnormalities in procoagulant activity.
