Uterine cervical tissue was obtained from pregnant women undergoing abortion or caesarean section. The tissue was incubated in Krebs-Ringer bicarbonate buffer containing prostaglandin (PG) E2 and radioactive precursors for collagen (3H proline) and proteoglycans (3H glucosamine). After incubation the tissue-bound radioactivity was determined and related to the tissue dry weight. The effect of PGE1 on the net tissue radiolabelling varied with the gestational age and with the cervical status at… Expand
Regulatory influence of relaxin on human cervical and uterine connective tissue.
TLDR
It is concluded that relaxin has a significant influence on [3H]proline incorporation by cervical and uterine tissue under in vitro experimental conditions. Expand
Effects of oxytocin on cervical and uterine connective tissue.
TLDR
The results suggest that oxytocin under in vitro experimental conditions influences cervical connective tissue metabolism which is in contrast to current clinical experiences. Expand
Clinical, biochemical and morphological aspects of cervical ripening in the first trimester
TLDR
There was no difference in baseline cervical dilation and cumulative force to dilate the cervix to 10mm in women treated with misoprostol compared to gemeprost, indicating an ongoing ripening process in women suffering either symptomatic or silent miscarriage. Expand
Interaction Between Progesterone and Interleukin-1β in Modulating Progesterone Receptor Expression and the Inflammatory Phenotype in Human Cervical Fibroblasts
TLDR
Although progesterone may function to maintain PR expression in a milieu of increasing cytokines in the late gestation human cervix, it does not exert an anti-inflammatory role with regard to prostaglandin E2 (PGE2) production. Expand
Management of prolonged pregnancy by induction with a Foley catheter
