Abstract Ni(NO 3 ) 2 precursors impregnated on activated carbon are exposed to a stream of HCl-containing gas at different conditions. HCl treatment of Ni(NO 3 ) 2 /C precursor at room temperature causes the agglomeration of nickel metal during the subsequent reduction at 650 K, and the average crystallite size, determined by XRD, increases with the severity of the treatment.
