149 specimens of Prochilodus lineatus were collected on the upper Paran6 River floodplain. Of these, 121 (82.1%) were parasitized. 33 species of metazoan parasites were recorded. Rhinonastes pseudocapsaloideum was classified as secondary, while all other species were classified as satellites. Ergasilus sp. and Tereancistrum curimba were positively associated and their abundances were positively correlated. Saccocoelioides magnorchis and S. nanii were positively associated and their abundances… Expand

Ecological aspects of metazoan endoparasites of Metynnis lippincottianus (Cope, 1870) (Characidae) from Upper Paraná River floodplain, Brazil
TLDR
Results suggest that species are coexisting without competition in Metynnis lippincottianus, Brazil, and positive association between D. pacupeva and two nematode species was observed, including positive and significant covariation between their abundances. Expand

TLDR
Medium sized fish depicted more infection with this cestode and female fish illustrates comparatively higher infection rate than male fish, which summarizes percentage of prevalence, intensity, abundance and index of infection. Expand
Ecology of the parasitic endohelminth community of Pseudoplatystoma fasciatum (Linnaeus, 1776) (Siluriformes: Pimelodidae) from the Aquidauana River, Pantanal, State of Mato Grosso do Sul, Brazil.

The structure and diversity of the endohelminth community and its interactions with Pseudoplatystoma fasciatum, caught in the Aquidauana River, in the State of Mato Grosso do Sul, Brazil, is investigated. Expand
Biodiversity of the metazoan parasites of Prochilodus lineatus (Valenciennes, 1837) (Characiformes: Prochilodontidae) in anthropized environments from the Batalha River, Sao Paulo State, Brazil
TLDR
The structure and composition of the P. lineatus parasitic fauna did not seem to be influenced by the structural characteristics of the two stretches studied, due to the migratory habits of the host. Expand
Structure of the Parasite Infracommunity of Hoplobatrachus tigerinus Daudin, 1803 from YSR Kadapa District, Andhra Pradesh, India
TLDR
The metazoan parasite species of H. tigerinus showed the typical aggregated pattern of distribution of most parasite systems and there was a very negligible influence of host snout-vent length on the parasitism however; there was no influence ofHost sex on the parasitic abundance. Expand
Sexual and age characteristics of the parasitofauna of Abramis brama (Cypriniformes, Cyprinidae) of the Lower Irtysh (Russia)
TLDR
Analysis of the parasite fauna in various age groups allowed us to establish that at the age of 5+–6+ bream were infected by 20 species of parasites, in age group 3+–4+ there were 15 species, at theage of 7+–8+ the fish were infected only with 11 parasitic species. Expand
Parasitic fauna of Prochilodus nigricans (Prochilodontidae) from Brazilian Amazon floodplain lakes

Influence of the type of environment and of the hydrological level variation in endoparasitic infrapopulations of Pseudoplatystoma corruscans (Agassiz) and Schizodon borelli (Boulenger) (Osteichthyes) of the high Paraná River, Brazil
TLDR
Results of the present research show that in the case of P. corruscans, two species of proteocephalideans presented a significant relationship with the type of environment with regard to prevalence, and this is probably due to what occurs with environments during the high water period when they are interlinked. Ecological factors influencing the composition of the parasite fauna of the European eel, Anguilla anguilla (L.), in Ireland
TLDR
The occurrence and intensities of infection of several parasite species were shown to be related to age and size of host: the occurrence of B. claviceps and R. acus was shown toBe related to either age or size of eels, which is accounted for by the fact that eels become increasingly piscivorous with age and increasing size. Parasite diversity/host age and size relationship in three coral-reef fishes from French Polynesia.
TLDR
Host diet quality seems to be one of the major factors affecting the endoparasite community structure in these reef fishes, which seem to be influenced more by biological factors such as host immunity for the caligid larvae or parasite life-cycle for the gnathiid praniza larvae. Expand
