Background: Last few decades have witnessed meditation to be a potential alternative therapy in medicine. Many psychological and behavioural aspects of meditation help to understand the effects of meditation qualitatively. Reaction time (RT) being one such measure estimates the response of central nervous system. It serves as a simple non invasive method to measure level of alertness providing an efficiency index of central nervous system processing. Method: Choice reaction time was used in the…

The anatomy of aesthetic experience
The primary aim of this thesis is to formulate an intensional definition of aesthetic experience. Its secondary aims are (i) to show how this definition might be used for empirical research and (ii)

To study the effect of Yoga Training on auditory and visual reaction time.
TLDR
Yoga training enhances the reaction times which are helpful in surgeons, sportsmen and skilled workers, and there was significant decrease in the alert values of both Auditory reaction time and Visual reaction time after two months of yoga training.
Meditation acutely improves psychomotor vigilance, and may decrease sleep need
TLDR
It is suggested that meditation provides at least a short-term performance improvement even in novice meditators, and multiple hours spent in meditation are associated with a significant decrease in total sleep time when compared with age and sex matched controls who did not meditate.
Visual Sensitivity and Mindfulness Meditation
TLDR
P Phenomenological reports indicate that mindfulness practice enables practitioners to become aware of some of the usually preattentive processes involved in visual detection, and support the statements found in Buddhist texts on meditation concerning the changes in perception encountered during the practice of mindfulness.
A COMPARATIVE STUDY BETWEEN YOUNG AND ELDERLY INDIAN MALES ON AUDIO-VISUAL REACTION TIME
TLDR
It was found that Audio-Visual reaction time increases as the age advances and Audio- visual reaction time is significantly different amongst the two studied age groups which showed that as theage advances there is effect of of ageing on the myelination of neurones.
Differences in Visual Sensitivity among Mindfulness Meditators and Non-Meditators
TLDR
The results support the statements found in Buddhist texts on meditation concerning the changes in perception encountered during the practice of mindfulness, and may reflect an enduring increase in sensitivity.
The neurobehavioural evaluation in schizophrenics: a comparative study.
TLDR
The results suggested that the schizophrenics showed inattentiveness in the clinical settings and an emotional disturbance in interpersonal situations and the increased reaction time might be due to the impairment of the psychomotor poverty, disorganization and reality distortion.
Comparison between Auditory and Visual Simple Reaction Times
TLDR
The results show that the auditory reaction time is faster than the visual reaction time, and also males have faster reaction times when compared to females for both auditory as well as visual stimuli.

REACTION TIME FOLLOWING THE TRANSCENDENTAL MEDITATION TECHNIQUE
Two groups, each composed of25 college students matched for age and sex, were compared on their performance on a reaction time test. The experimental group (meditators) and the control group
Short-term meditation modulates brain activity of insight evoked with solution cue.
TLDR
The neural correlation using Chinese Remote Association Test is examined, as a measure of creativity, to provide a solution following the failure of the participant to provide one.
