We present three experiments in which observers were asked to interpolate parabolic sampled contours. In the first two experiments, observers saw only eight isolated sample points, all of which lay on or near an otherwise invisible contour. The observer adjusted the position of a ninth point until s/he judged it to be on the contour as well.
