Inflationary Cosmology in Modified Gravity Theories

title={Inflationary Cosmology in Modified Gravity Theories},
  author={Kazuharu Bamba and Sergei D. Odintsov},
We review inflationary cosmology in modified gravity such as R2 gravity with its extensions in order to generalize the Starobinsky inflation model. In particular, we explore inflation realized by three kinds of effects: modification of gravity, the quantum anomaly, and the R2 term in loop quantum cosmology. It is explicitly demonstrated that in these inflationary models, the spectral index of scalar modes of the density perturbations and the tensor-to-scalar ratio can be consistent with the…

Inflationary dynamics in f(𝒢) gravity

This paper investigates inflationary dynamics for isotropic and homogeneous universe model in the background of f(𝒢) gravity. We construct Hubble-flow functions, slow-roll parameters, amplitude of

Inflationary cosmology for f(R,Φ) models with different potentials

We examine inflation in f(R,Φ)-theory, where scalar field is coupled to gravity. We have constructed the Rf(Φ) models using exponential and power law potentials and study inflation for these models

Inflationary universe from anomaly-free $F(R)$-gravity

By adding a three dimensional manifold to an eleven dimensional manifold in supergravity, we obtain the action of F (R)-gravity and find that it is anomaly free. We calculate the scale factor of the

Inflationary universe from higher-derivative quantum gravity

We consider higher-derivative quantum gravity where renormalization group improved effective action beyond one-loop approximation is derived. Using this effective action, the quantum-corrected FRW

Warm inflation in f(G) theory of gravity

The aim of this paper is to explore warm inflation in the background of f(G) theory of gravity using scalar fields for the FRW universe model. We construct the field equations under slow-roll

Cosmology in the mimetic higher-curvature gravity

In the framework of the mimetic approach, we study the f (R,RμνR) gravity with the Lagrange multiplier constraint and the scalar potential. We introduce field equations for the discussed theory and

Cosmological bouncing solutions in extended teleparallel gravity theories

In the context of extended Teleparallel gravity theories with a 3+1 dimensions Gauss-Bonnet analog term, we address the possibility of these theories reproducing several well-known cosmological

Cosmography parameters in inflationary scenario and their interrelation with slow-roll parameters

This work investigates the inflationary era with slow-roll approximation in the perspective of cosmography parameters. The slow-roll parameters are determined in terms of cosmography parameters and

Cosmological Issues in $F(T)$ Gravity Theory

We review recent developments on cosmology in extended teleparallel gravity, called "$F(T)$ gravity" with $T$ the torsion scalar in teleparallelism. We explore various cosmological aspects of $F(T)$

Reconstruction of k-essence inflation in Horndeski gravity

Abstract. In this paper, we analyzed inflation from k-essence in the framework of Horndeski gravity. In particular, we considered the models of canonical scalar field and k-essence with quadratic

Inflation in scale-invariant theories of gravity

Thanks to the Planck Collaboration, we know the value of the scalar spectral index of primordial fluctuations with unprecedented precision. In addition, the joint analysis of the data from Planck,

Inflationary universe from higher-derivative quantum gravity

We consider higher-derivative quantum gravity where renormalization group improved effective action beyond one-loop approximation is derived. Using this effective action, the quantum-corrected FRW

Inflationary Cosmology after Planck 2013

I give a general review of inflationary cosmology and of its present status, in view of the 2013 data release by the Planck satellite. A specific emphasis is given to the new broad class of theories,

Loop quantum modified gravity and its cosmological application

A general nonperturvative loop quantization procedure for metric modified gravity is reviewed. As an example, this procedure is applied to scalar-tensor theories of gravity. The quantum kinematical

  • 1985
A detailed review of the Starobinsky scenario is given and an observational constraint on the parameters of the model is derived and a cosmological wave function is obtained describing a universe tunneling from ``nothing'' to theStarobinsky inflationary phase.

Trace-anomaly driven inflation in modified gravity and the BICEP2 result

We explore conformal-anomaly driven inflation in $F(R)$ gravity without invoking the scalar-tensor representation. We derive the stress-energy tensor of the quantum anomaly in the flat homogeneous

Inflationary universe from perfect fluid and $F(R)$ gravity and its comparison with observational data

We investigate the descriptions for the observables of inflationary models, in particular, the spectral index of curvature perturbations, the tensor-to-scalar ratio, and the running of the spectral

Universe acceleration in modified gravities: $F(R)$ and $F(T)$ cases

We review recent progress on cosmological issues and theoretical properties of modified gravity theories. In particular, we explicitly explore the conformal transformation, the Starobinsky inflation,

One-loop modified gravity in a de Sitter universe, quantum-corrected inflation, and its confrontation with the Planck result

Motivated by issues on inflation, a generalized modified gravity model is investigated, where the model Lagrangian is described by a smooth function $f(R, K, \phi)$ of the Ricci scalar $R$, the
