We study a distinct type of non-Fermi liquid where there exists an infinite number of critical bosonic modes instead of finite number of bosonic modes for the conventional ones. We consider itinerant magnets with both conduction electrons and fluctuating magnetic moments in three dimensions. With Dzyaloshinskii–Moriya interaction, the moments fluctuate near a boson surface in the reciprocal space at low energies when the system approaches an ordering transition. The infinite number of critical…

Infinite critical boson non-Fermi liquid on heterostructure interfaces

We study the emergence of non-Fermi liquid on heterostructure interfaces where there exists an infinite number of critical boson modes in two spatial dimensions for the magnetic fluctuations. At the

A controlled expansion for certain non-Fermi liquid metals

The destruction of Fermi liquid behavior when a gapless Fermi surface is coupled to a fluctuating gapless boson field is studied theoretically. This problem arises in a number of different contexts

Recent Developments in Non-Fermi Liquid Theory

Non-Fermi liquids are unconventional metals whose physical properties deviate qualitatively from those of noninteracting fermions due to strong quantum fluctuations near Fermi surfaces. They arise

Non-Fermi liquid induced by Bose metal with protected subsystem symmetries

Understanding non-Fermi liquids in dimensions higher than one, has been a subject of great interest. Such phases may serve as parent states for other unconventional phases of quantum matter, in a

Perturbative non-Fermi liquids from dimensional regularization

We devise a dimensional regularization scheme for quantum field theories with Fermi surface to study scaling behaviour of non-Fermi liquid states in a controlled approximation. Starting from a Fermi

Spin conservation and Fermi liquid near a ferromagnetic quantum critical point.

It is shown that the full low-energy model includes, in addition to conventional interaction via spin fluctuations, another type of interaction, whose presence is crucial for the theory to satisfy SU(2) spin conservation.

Metallic state in bosonic systems with continuously degenerate dispersion minima

A continuously degenerate minima of the single particle dispersion is realized in the presence of an isotropic spin-orbit coupling above one dimension. The unit codimension of the dispersion-minima

Bose-Luttinger liquids

We study systems of bosons whose low-energy excitations are located along a spherical submanifold of momentum space. We argue for the existence of gapless phases which we dub “Bose-Luttinger

Quantum Phase Transitions of Metals in Two Spatial Dimensions: II. Spin density Wave Order

We present a field-theoretic renormalization group analysis of Abanov and Chubukov’s model of the spin density wave transition in two dimensional metals. We identify the independent field scale and

Quantum theory of a nematic Fermi fluid

We develop a microscopic theory of the electronic nematic phase proximate to an isotropic Fermi liquid in both two and three dimensions. Explicit expressions are obtained for the small amplitude
