This paper contains a brief resume of a mathematical foundation for construction and analysis of accelerated life tests. The effects, on distribution of time to failure, of several special methods of accelerating life are studied. A special type of accelerated life test for capacitors is examined in detail. Three methods for estimating the parameter of the original distribution, from data gathered from the accelerated tests, are indicated if the original distribution is negative exponential.
