BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE Adipocytes release membrane vesicles called adiposomes, which harbor the glycosylphosphatidylinositol-anchored proteins (GPI proteins), Gce1 and CD73, after induction with palmitate, H(2)O(2) and the sulphonylurea drug glimepiride.
