Three studies were conducted to provide a further characterization of the neurochemical and behavioral effects of phencyclidine (PCP). The first experiment utilized in vivo microdialysis to measure extracellular levels of dopamine (DA), dihydroxyphenylacetic acid (DOPAC) and homovanillic acid (HVA) in the nucleus accumbens.
