AIMS We have reported that either toll-like receptor 4 deficiency (TLR4(-/-)) or TLR2 modulation protects against myocardial ischaemia/reperfusion (I/R) injury. The mechanisms involve attenuation of I/R-induced nuclear factor KappaB (NF-κB) activation.
