Background : The rupture of the suture in the abdominal wall, but with integrity of the cutaneous suture, results in a condition known as incisional hernia. It is characterized by the protrusion of the abdominal viscera through orifices or areas of the abdominal wall. In most of the cases these defects in the abdominal wall are iatrogenic. The incisional hernia occurs in an intact wall that is weakened by surgical incisions. The available literature on the incidence of incisional hernias in…

Surgical procedures in cats in a teaching veterinary hospital
A survey of surgical procedures performed on cats in a teaching veterinary hospital in Brazil found the most frequent surgery was ovariohysterectomy due to dystocic parturition, which may be linked to the use of contraceptives.

O uso da prótese na correção das hérnias da parede abdominal é um avanço, mas o seu uso indiscriminado, um abuso
Although the use of biomaterials has constituted a great advance in surgery for abdominal wall hernia corrections because they decrease recurrences, and permit treatment of large abdominal hernias, the indiscriminate prosthesis usage is an abuse, and it can determine many serious complications, certainly avoidable with a well indicated non mesh technique.
Complications of ovariohysterectomy procedures performed in 1880 dogs.
It is indicated that patient weight is related to the incidence of complications and the odds of a complication occurring increase by a factor of 1.03 for every one kilogram of increase in patient weight.
Associated laparoscopic-assisted gastropexy and ovariohisterectomy in a Great Dane bitch
It is concluded that the two portals laparoscopic-assisted prophylactic gastropexy is feasible and safe in dogs, when combined with elective OVH, which makes the technique a suitable option for prevention of GDV in predisposed breeds.
Hérnia pós-incisão em cães e gatos
The case records of nine dogs and six cats with post-incisional hernia were managed by surgical correction at the Veterinary Hospital of the Federal University of Santa Maria, RS, Brazil, between
A prospective study of postoperative surgical site infections in dogs and cats.
SSI frequency in companion animals is comparable with the frequency observed in human surgical patients and several significant predictive factors for SSI in small animals surgery were identified.
Tumor venéreo transmissível canino com localização intra-ocular e metástase no baço
This work reports the case of a canine animal species, without defined race, male, 4 years old, 13 kilos, taken care of in the Veterinarian Hospital of the Universidade Federal Rural do Semi-Arido, where TVT was evidenced during clinical examination, beyond total blindness in result of an intra-ocular colored mass that projected itself for out of the right and left ocular globe.
Biomarcadores inflamatórios e indicadores de estresse oxidativo em cadelas submetidas à ovariossalpingohisterectomia convencional, por NOTES híbrida e NOTES total
It is possible to conclude that systemic inflammation occurs in a similar way in the three operative techniques; however, total NOTES technique presents lower levels of cellular oxidative damage, particularly if compared to the conventional approach.
