Incubation of Dip-AST 5 (Asp-Arg-Leu-Tyr-Ser-Phe-Gly-Leu-NH2) with membrane preparations of midgut, hindgut, brain, or corpora allata (CA) results in its inactivation in terms of the inhibition of juvenile hormone biosynthesis. Dip-AST 5 is initially cleaved at Gly7-Leu8 to yield the N-terminal heptapeptide (Asp-Arg-Leu-Tyr-Ser-Phe-Gly).
