AIM The objective of this work was to study the photoacoustic effect of a special nanoparticle for selective cancer cell killing both in vitro and in vivo. MATERIALS & METHODS The nanoparticles (NPs) consisting of indocyanine green (ICG), phospholipid-polyethylene glycol (PL-PEG) and folic acid (FA) were used as cancer-targeting nanoprobes.
