Allantoinase and allantoicase are induced when Ps. aerugh~osa is grown in a medium with allantoin or allantoate as the sole source of carbon, nitrogen and energy. During the exponential growth phase the specific activities of both enzymes remained constant; however, a marked decrease both in activity and specific activity of allantoinase occurred after the culture had reached the stationary growth phase.
