A rapid clonal propagation method for Fibigia triquetra (DC.) Boiss. (Brassicaceae), a rare Croatian stenoendemic species, has been developed. Shoots originated from aseptically germinated seeds were used for culture initiation. The highest multiplication rate of 9.2 shoots per explant was achieved in a 4-weeks-culture period in the third subculture on half strength Murashige and Skoog medium supplemented with 0.5 µM 6-benzylaminopurine and 2.9 µM gibberellic acid. Excised shoots were rooted… Expand

In vitro germination and micropropagation of Givotia rottleriformis Griff.
The present study was undertaken to develop a protocol to overcome seed dormancy by culture of zygotic embryo axes and then develop an efficient method for micropropagation of Givotia. Expand
Propagation and antioxidative enzymes of Campanula velebitica Borbás grown in vitro
It is concluded that C. velebitica is easily propagated in in vitro conditions, without substantial stress response, and this endemic plant species could be efficiently preserved through culture in vitro. Expand
This paper concerns the cytogenetic investigation of the Croatian endem ic species Fibigia triquetra (DC.) Boiss. (Brassicaceae). The number of chro mosomes in all investigated cells from threeExpand
Biotechnological Interventions for Conservation and Multiplication of Threatened Medicinal Plants
In this chapter an attempt has been made to review the state of art in these species in relation with multiplication and conservation using biotechnological means. Expand
Physiological and Biochemical Responses of Fibigia Triquetra (DC.) Boiss. to Osmotic Stress
The tolerance of the plant species to osmotic stress seems to be associated with increased capacity of the antioxidative system and efficient photoprotective system, and Superoxide dismutase and ascorbate peroxidase appear to play an essential protective role in stressed plants. Expand
Biotechnological Strategies for Improvement of Aromatic and Medicinal Herbs
It has been estimated that with the present conservation scenario, the medicinal plant species are depleting around 100–1000 times higher than the expected rate of natural extinction and there is a high demand for the conservation and sustainable utilization of medicinal plants. Expand

Rapid propagation of white cabbage by tissue culture
A tissue culture technique has been devised to produce plants of white cabbage from heads stored at 0.5±0.5°C for 8 months, which resulted in root development in 1–2 weeks and plantlets obtained from parent cabbages containing turnip mosaic virus remained infected. Expand
