Von 12 streptomyzinfestenB. tularense-Stämmen wurden 11 in einer 1/160 normalen NaCl-Lösung agglutiniert und waren von niedrigerer Virulenz als die durch dieselbe NaCl-Lösung nicht agglutinable, hochvirulente Ausgangskultur. Einer dieser streptomyzinfesten, nicht virulenten Stämme war fähig, weisse Mäuse gegen eine Million 50%iger tödlicher Dosen des Ausgangsstammes zu immunisieren.

It is suggested that induced resistance to streptomycin is not so much the result of a selective process but rather the physiological response of the bacterial cell against the damaging drug.
