The antibacterial activity of S-4661, a new parenteral carbapenem antibiotic, was assessed against the major urological pathogens isolated from patients with complicated urinary tract infections. S-4661 was slightly less active than imipenem and panipenem, but more active than meropenem and ceftazidime against Gram-positive bacteria.
