Nigella sativa L. has long been used in the traditional medicine for treatment of many diseases including infections, immunomodulations and cancers. In this study, the immunostimulating activity of ethanolic extract of N. sativa was investigated in light of the production of immunoglobulin M (IgM) and the proliferation of murine splenic cells in vitro. The production of IgM in cultural supernatants was determined by an Enzyme-linked Immunosorbent Assay (ELISA) and the proliferation of mice…

Preliminary Screening of Six Popular Fruits of Bangladesh for in vitro IgM Production and Proliferation of Splenocytes

The present findings suggest that S. dulcis, D. indica, A. comosus and C. medica possess moderate immunostimulating activities through the stimulation of B cells for IgM production and hence may be useful for enhancing the immunity of the body.

Evaluation of Red and Green Colored Bell peppers for the Production of Polyclonal IgM and IgG Antibodies in Murine Spleen Cells

The current findings suggest that consumption of Red Bell Pepper extract or its vegetables, not green pepper, may be beneficial to strengthen humoral immune responses.

EFFECT OF CHANDANASAV, AN AYURVEDIC FORMULATION, ON MICE WHOLE SPLENOCYTES FOR THE PRODUCTION OF POLYCLONAL IgM AND PROLIFERATION OF CELLS: A PRELIMINARY STUDY

The results suggest that the observed enhancement of IgM production treated with Chandanasav in this study was due to the contamination of bacterial endotoxin and hence, this preparation does not possess immunostimulating property.

IN VITRO ASSESSMENT OF PRASARANI SANDHAN, A TRADITIONAL POLYHERBAL AYURVEDIC MEDICINE, FOR IMMUNOSTIMULATING ACTIVITY IN SPLENIC CELLS OF BALB/C MICE Original Article

The findings suggest that the apparently observed enhancement of IgM by PRS was due to the contamination of bacterial endotoxin, and PRS has no immunostimulating property.

Screening of Baccaurea ramiflora (Lour.) extracts for cytotoxic, analgesic, anti-inflammatory, neuropharmacological and antidiarrheal activities

This investigation demonstrated significant cytotoxic, analgesic, anti-inflammatory, CNS depressant and antidiarrheal activities of methanol extract of Baccaurea ramiflora pulp and seeds in mice model.

The effect of pomegranate fresh juice versus pomegranate seed powder on metabolic indices, lipid profile, inflammatory biomarkers, and the histopathology of pancreatic islets of Langerhans in streptozotocin-nicotinamide induced type 2 diabetic Sprague–Dawley rats

The findings suggest that active constituents with high antioxidant properties present in PJ are responsible for its anti-hyperlipidemic and anti-inflammatory effects, likewise the restoration effect on the damaged islets of Langerhans in experimental rats.

Phytochemical and Therapeutic Potential of Citrus grandis (L.) Osbeck: A Review

Different pharmacological properties like antimicrobial, antitumor, antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, anticancer, antiepileptic, stomach tonic, cardiac stimulant, cytotoxic, hepatoprotective, nephroprotective, and anti-diabetic activities of the plant are highlighted.

Clerodendrum wallichii Merr Methanol Extract Protected Alcohol-Induced Liver Injury in Sprague-Dawley Rats by Modulating Antioxidant Enzymes

The hepatoprotective effect of Clerodendrum wallichii extract against ethanol-induced liver injury in the laboratory rats model clearly demonstrated the well-tolerability and safety of used doses of MECW in rats.

Rumen metabolism, meat quality and gene expression changes associated with Nigella sativa L. seeds and Rosmarinus officinalis L. leaf supplementation in Dorper sheep

The use of herbs in animal nutrition represents a potent strategy for achieving desired production targets with minimal or no negative impact on animal health and environment but the impact of herbs on rumen metabolism, growth performance, immune response, meat quality and gene expression is generally less consistent in the published literature.

Comprehensive Review on Phytochemicals, Pharmacological and Clinical Potentials of Gymnema sylvestre

Gymnema sylvestre is a plant included in Apocynaceae family and is located in many regions of Asia, Africa and Australia and is widely used in traditional and Ayurvedic systems of medicine.

It is demonstrated that the extract of red bell pepper enhanced IgM production in B cells and suggested that the active substance(s) in the extract is a non-proteinous heat-labile macromolecule.
