SummaryIn situ hybridization histochemistry was used to identify neurons in rat dorsal root ganglia that contained mRNAs encoding β-preprotachykinin and preprosomatostatin. The distribution of these neurons was compared with the distribution of neurons containing tachykinins or somatostatin, identified using immunocytochemical techniques.
