This article is based loosely on my keynote address, “Beyond Estimation” [1], presented at the Symposium. The symposium keynote address covered a variety of topics which I felt were important to Astronautics, but were not, with one small exception, part of Astronautics. Most of these do not appear in the present work. Some were inappropriate to a technical journal, even for a keynote address; others were too self-congratulatory.
