Pamphleteers Generally went from addressing their little blue books to a mixed domestic and elite international audience to writing for one that was socially broad and predominantly Dutch. Though some pamphlets stated their intended audience, most simply assumed it. Hence, in determining the targeted reader particular attention must be paid to indirect clues reflected in literary techniques, pamphlet content and form, and such external elements as length, language and appearance.
