Abstract. Impurity profiles of 3,4-methylenedioxymethylamphetamine (MDMA) tablets seized in France have been examined. The samples were extracted with methylene chloride under basic conditions and then analyzed by capillary gas chromatography. Almost 30 compounds were identified as precursors, intermediates and by-products. Palmitic and stearic acid were also found as tableting materials. The comparison of the different profiles obtained by the reported procedure provided very useful…

Profiling of 3,4-methylenedioxymethamphetamine by means of high-performance liquid chromatography
An impurity-profiling method for 3,4-methylenedioxymethamphetamine (MDMA) was presented, based on the areas of 33 selected peaks corresponding to MDMA impurities, which correctly classified into clusters corresponding to the synthetic route.
Application of Carbon Adsorbents for Extraction of MDMA Impurities in TLC Drug Profiling
Abstract The efficiency of carbon adsorbents in the extraction of impurities from 1‐phenylethylamine (a model substance) and MDMA (3,4‐methylenedioxymethamphetamine), the main psychoactive component

A Review of Recent Advances in Impurity Profiling of Illicit MDMA Samples
This article reviews the recent advances in MDMA impurity profiling from 2002 up to the end of 2006 and investigates the potential of profiling the trace metals present in tablets.
SPE/TLC Profiling of the Impurities of MDMA: The Influence of an Agglutinant, Diluents, and Adulterants
Abstract The SPE/TLC method has been used in the screening profiling of impurities extracted (SPE) from MDMA (3,4‐methylenedioxymethamphetamine), the main active component of Ecstasy tablets. Sought
Fingerprinting of 3, 4-Methylenedioxymethamphetamine Markers by Desorption/Ionization on Porous Silicon
