Research conducted in academic contexts suggests a moderating effect of impulsive behavior on the relationship between aptitude and achievement. According to these studies, intelligence scores being equal, higher levels of impulsivity have an adverse effect on achievement (Helmers, Young, & Pihl, 1995; Vigil-Colet & Morales-Vives, 2005; Zeidner, 1995). The present study aims to contrast the aforementioned moderator effect in the context of a discriminant learning task, carried out under a fixed…

Personality and Behavior in Social Dilemmas: Testing the Situational Strength Hypothesis and the Role of Hypothetical Versus Real Incentives.
TLDR
Test of the situational strength hypothesis based on the operationalization of strength as reinforcement contingencies found that no behavioral variability and no effect of SVO on behavior were found in the strongest situation, however, situational strength did not moderate the effect on behavior in situations where behavior showed variability.
Impulsivity and speed–accuracy strategies in discrimination learning
The main purpose of the present study was twofold: (1) to analyse the effect of individual differences in speed–accuracy trade-off (SAT) on discrimination learning and (2) to analyse the relation of

How Impulsivity is Related to Intelligence and Academic Achievement
TLDR
Investigation of the relationships between impulsivity, intelligence, and academic failure in a sample of 241 secondary school students indicates that impulsivity is not directly related to intelligence and may act as a moderator variable between individuals' resources and their achievements.

Activity, attention, and aggression in learning disabled children
Abstract Research has documented a reliable statistical association between specific learning disabilities in children and certain difficulties in adapting to the behavioral demands of traditional

Personality, motivation, and performance: a theory of the relationship between individual differences and information processing.
TLDR
A general information-processing model is proposed that accounts for the systematic effects of these motivational states on certain task components (sustained information transfer and some aspect of short-term memory) and derive testable predictions that differentiate alternative motivational hypotheses.
Modeling Effects on Impulsivity with Learning Disabled Children
TLDR
It was found that children who observed a reflective model showed significantly longer latencies than subjects in both the impulsive modeling and control group following each treatment session and on the delayed posttest.
