Patients undergoing IVF/ICSI frequently experience substantial treatment burden, risk and psychological distress. These three related elements contribute to a negative patient experience that can lead to treatment discontinuation if pregnancy is not achieved. One approach to minimize these factors is the use of protocols designed to achieve high term, singleton birth rates per IVF treatment started, while improving the patient's welfare. Gonadotrophin-releasing hormone (GnRH) antagonists may be…
Optimisation of the follicular phase in IVF/ICSI
TLDR
A series of clinical studies are presented that all revolve around the optimisation of ovarian stimulation with GnRH antagonist co-treatment, focusing on the impact of cycle day 2 progesterone levels on treatment outcome and reducing FSH consumption by substitution of FSH by low dosages of hCG during the mid-late follicular phase.

TLDR
Stimulation with a GnRH-antagonist instead of a Gn RH-agonist in IVF, is less physically and psychologically demanding for the patients and maintains the same birth rate.
Evaluation of pretreatment with Cetrotide in an antagonist protocol for patients with PCOS undergoing IVF/ICSI cycles: a randomized clinical trial
TLDR
Women with PCOS offered early follicular phase GnRH antagonist pretreatment for three consecutive days had significantly fewer cases of OHSS and higher chemical pregnancy rates.
Is the GnRH Antagonist Protocol Effective at Preventing OHSS for Potentially High Responders Undergoing IVF/ICSI?
TLDR
It is demonstrated that for potentially high responders, the GnRHant protocol can, to some extent, lower the cancellation and incidence rates of OHSS.
Observational Study to Assess the Therapeutic Value of Four Ovarian Hyperstimulation Protocols in IVF After Pituitary Suppression with GnRH Antagonists in Normally Responding Women
TLDR
Observations support the concept that stimulation with hp-hMG could be beneficial in normal responders women undergoing pituitary suppression with GnRH antagonists, and among patients in whom two embryos with similar quality parameters (ASEBIR) were transferred, the group treated with hMG alone achieved a significantly greater clinical pregnancy rate.
A boon for infertility patients: Ovarian stimulation with GnRH antagonist
TLDR
To assess the clinical outcomes using gonadotropin-releasing hormone (GnRH) antagonist protocol in in vitro fertilization (IVF) cycles in a private practice set up in India, 510 self cycles were evaluated.
Comparison of GnRH agonist long and antagonist protocols in the same normoresponder patient undergoing assisted reproductive treatment.
TLDR
Assessment of cycle characteristics and outcomes of a group of normoresponder women who had undergone controlled ovarian hyperstimulation with both ANT and AL protocols for assisted reproductive treatment (ART) concluded that antagonists might be easily considered as the first choice in NR women undergoing ART.
Pretreatment with oral contraceptive pills to identify poor responders that may benefit from rLH supplementation during GnRH-antagonist treatment for IVF: A pilot perspective study proposal
TLDR
It is hypothesize that patients with suppressed hypothalamic-pituitary-axis activity may benefit from rLH supplementation, as GnRH-antagonist administration has the potential to induce a marked reduction in LH levels in such patients compared with that in patients that exhibit a regular recovery following the administration of oral contraceptive pills (OCPs).

The psychological impact of IVF failure after two or more cycles of IVF with a mild versus standard treatment strategy.
TLDR
Failure of IVF treatment after a mild treatment strategy may result in fewer short-term symptoms of depression as compared to failure after a standard treatment strategy, and these findings may further encourage the application of mildIVF treatment strategies in clinical practice.
The psychological impact of mild ovarian stimulation combined with single embryo transfer compared with conventional IVF.
TLDR
During the first IVF treatment cycle, mild ovarian stimulation and SET does not lead to more psychological complaints than conventional IVF.

GnRH antagonists in ovarian stimulation for IVF.
TLDR
The role of GnRH antagonists in ovarian stimulation for IVF appears to be promising, although many questions regarding preferred dose regimens and effects on clinical outcomes remain.
GnRH agonists and antagonists in assisted reproduction: pregnancy rate.
GnRH antagonists in ovarian stimulation: a treatment regimen of clinicians' second choice? Data from the German national IVF registry.
TLDR
Two observations support the notion that GnRH antagonists are often utilized as a treatment option in cycles with an unfavourable a priori prognosis and have important implications for interpreting clinical performance of Gn RH antagonists outside a research context.
The ISMAAR proposal on terminology for ovarian stimulation for IVF.
TLDR
Revised definitions and terminology for natural cycle IVF and different protocols used in ovarian stimulation for IVF are recommended and it is proposed that these terms are adopted internationally in order to achieve a consistency in clinical practice, research publications and communication with patients.
A lower ongoing pregnancy rate can be expected when GnRH agonist is used for triggering final oocyte maturation instead of HCG in patients undergoing IVF with GnRH antagonists.
TLDR
Lower probability of ongoing pregnancy can be expected when GnRH agonist is used for triggering final oocyte maturation instead of HCG in patients undergoing ovarian stimulation for IVF with GnRH antagonists.
Cost-effectiveness of a mild compared with a standard strategy for IVF: a randomized comparison using cumulative term live birth as the primary endpoint.
TLDR
It is unlikely, over a wide range of society's willingness-to-pay, that the standard treatment strategy is cost-effective, compared with the mild strategy, despite an increased mean number of IVF cycles within 1 year.
