The effects of amino acids (arginine, aspargine, cysteine, glutamine, glycine and proline) and polyamines (putrescine and spermidine) on embryogenesis and plant regeneration from cultured anthers of Guizotia abyssinica (L. f.) Cass. cv. Ootacamund was studied. Supplementation of amino acids (0.5–5.0 mM) to the induction medium individually and in combination, improved embryo yield.
