The purpose of these experiments was to examine the effects of dietary antioxidant supplementation with vitamin E (VE) and alpha-lipoic acid (alpha-LA) on biochemical and physiological responses to in vivo myocardial ischemia-reperfusion (I-R) in aged rats.
