Abstract This paper proposes an improved fast dynamic system for controlling Matrix Converter (MC) based on modified hysteresis current controller using optimal tuning PI controller. An improved Bacterial Foraging Optimization (BFO) technique is employed for controlling the active and reactive current components of the Permanent Magnet Synchronous Generator (PMSG) to extract the maximum power from the wind.
