  • In patients with chronic pancreatitis, the plasma pancreatic polypeptide (PP) response to insulininduced hypoglycemia is impaired, although basal levels are within the normal range. Somatostatin lowers the PP response in normal people and in patients with chronic pancreatitis. The PP response may be a useful index of pancreatic function.
