OBJECTIVES This study sought to determine whether nitric oxide-mediated vasodilation is abnormal in patients with non-insulin-dependent diabetes mellitus. BACKGROUND Multiple investigations, both in experimental models and in patients with insulin-dependent diabetes mellitus, demonstrate impaired endothelium-dependent vasodilation.
