The information contained in the relaxation data is assumed to be completely specified by two quantities: a generalized order parameter,S2, which is a measure of the spatial restriction of the internal motion, and an effective correlation time, τe, which is a measure of the rate of the internal motion. This framework has been applied by a number of groups to interpret NMR relaxation experiments on proteins. 7-11
