Maximizing the profits obtained in the conversion of softwood logs into lumber is a primary interest of forest products companies and a concern of forest managers. A study was conducted to investigate the impact of taper and sawing methods on lumber volume recovery for Pinus kesiya and Pinus patula logs in four circular sawmills in Dedza, Malawi.
