OBJECTIVE During their disease a significant number of human immunodeficiency virus (HIV)-infected patients develop neurologic symptoms due to intracerebral pathologies. Entities commonly found are toxoplasmosis, lymphomas, or progressive multifocal leukoencephalopathy. In some patients, diagnosis is not feasible with imaging alone, requiring biopsy.
