AIMS Ageing of the immune system, immunosenescence, is characterized by impaired lymphopoiesis, especially B-lymphocyte maturation, and is a hallmark of chronic heart failure (CHF). MicroRNAs (miRNAs) are non-coding, small RNAs, which post-transcriptionally control gene expression of multiple target genes.
