Mycoplasma hyopneumoniae (Mh) is the primary agent of porcine enzootic pneumonia (PEN), a chronic respiratory disease endemic to pig farms, and characterized histologically by infiltration of mononuclear cells in airways and prominent hyperplasia of the bronchus-associated lymphoid tissue (BALT).
