Neuroinflammation elicited by PrP(res) (resistant prion protein [PrP]) deposits in the central nervous system (CNS) has been shown to involve cellular and oxidative stress responses in bovine spongiform encephalopathy (BSE) as well as in several murine models of transmissible spongiform encephalopathy (TSE).
