The distribution of the 22 kDa secretory protein from rat ventral prostate was studied by light and electron microscopic immunocytochemistry. An anti-22 kDa protein antiserum was raised in rabbits and its specificity was tested by Western blotting. With the immunofluorescence technique, the 22 kDa protein was detected in the luminal secretions and intracellular apical granules of the ventral prostate.
