The suprachiasmatic nucleus (SCN) and the intergeniculate leaflet (IGL) are retinorecipient structures that play important roles in the expression of circadian rhythmicity. We examined these two structures in a diurnal ground squirrel, Spermophilus lateralis, using immunohistochemical techniques, and cholera toxin-bound horseradish peroxidase.
