In 50 adult Sprague-Dawley rats 42 neurogenic tumours were induced by oral application of 5 mg/kg N-methyl-N-nitrosourea through drinking water (pH 6.2). Out of this series 12 brain tumours have been set for in vitro culture. Cytological tests have been done in the primary tumours as well as in the cultures derived in order to determine the brain specific S-100 protein by indirect immunofluorescence technique.
