In the chicken twelve autosomal blood group systems are known. The A and E systems are closely linked and the D and H and perhaps A and J systems probably loosely linked. The B system is the most complex and has more than 30 groups within it. Antisera to B antigens are usually high cross reactive. A mosaic structure for B system antigens and finite numbers of factors making up such mosaics is suggested.
