Twenty-three chlorovirus genes expressed in host cells as early as 5-10 min postinfection (p.i.), or immediate early, were isolated and characterized. Some showed significant homology with those for transcriptional factors and mRNA-processing proteins including TFIIB, helicases, mRNA capping enzyme, nucleolin, and bean transcription factor.
