This article examines location-based media projects implemented in selected Polish cities by local governments. We scrutinize the uses of the media, not only on the level of the end user, but as a certain tool in discursive efforts to assure a “modern” identity of the involved cities. Thus, we see these projects in broader social and cultural contexts.
