BACKGROUND/AIMS Restorative proctocolectomy is the "golden standard" in surgical treatment of ulcerative colitis and familial adenomatous polyposis. The two alternative techniques of ileal-pouch-anal anastomosis include hand-made suture and double line stapled suture.
