Twenty-seven erotic and sexually neutral movie clips were shown to 191 men, consisting of 62 heterosexual intrafamilial child sexual abusers, 57 heterosexual and 25 homosexual extrafamilial child sexual abusers and 47 community controls. The stimuli depicted males and females from ages 6 to 25 years. Maximum penile volume changes were recorded during the 30 second stimulus presentations. Analyses showed that the phallometric test had high internal consistency (alpha=0.93) and revealed the…

Sadism and other paraphilias in normal controls and aggressive and nonaggressive sex offenders

Penile circumference responses (PCRs) to a visual age/gender erotic preference battery were analyzed and Pedophilia had a low incidence of co-occurrence with other paraphilias whereas sadism, transvestism/fetishism, and the courtship disorder paraphilia had a high incidence ofCo-occurring.

Assessment and modification of sexual preference in child molesters

Sexual preference has been identified as an important component in the motivational matrix of many sexual offenders against children. Deviant sexual cues or behaviours are understood to elicit

Interpersonal and Affective Traits of Psychopathy in Child Sexual Abusers: Evidence from a Pilot Study Sample of Italian Offenders

In this study, the Psychopathy Checklist–Revised was used to assess psychopathy in a group of 87 Italian, male inmates who were convicted of violent crimes to positively inform the development of treatment strategies for child sexual abusers.

Sexual Arousal to Female Children in Gynephilic Men

The authors examined the sexual arousal patterns of 214 contemporary men who, based on self-report, offense history, and phallometric responses, were purely gynephilic, and showed the “classical control profile”: the greatest arousal to adult women, systematically decreasing arousal as the female stimuli became younger, and essentially no arousal to any age categories of males or to neutral (nonerotic) stimuli.

Identifying Pedophilic Interest in Sex Offenders Against Children With the Indirect Choice Reaction Time Task

Pedophilia – a disorder of sexual preference with primary sexual interest in prepubescent children – is forensically relevant yet difficult to detect using self-report methods. The present study

Sexual Attraction to Others: A Comparison of Two Models of Alloerotic Responding in Men

Comparisons of goodness of fit to the observed data favored the unidimensional bipolar model in predicting a man’s penile response to each of his less arousing stimulus categories from his response to his most arousing (preferred) stimulus category.

Phallometric Comparison of Pedophilic Interest in Nonadmitting Sexual Offenders Against Stepdaughters, Biological Daughters, Other Biologically Related Girls, and Unrelated Girls

The results indicated that the mean level of pedophilic response in men with offences against daughters or stepdaughters is intermediate between that in menWith offences against otherwise-related or unrelated girls and that inMen with no offences against girls at all.

The female child as a surrogate object

It was tested that males with nondeviant erotic preferences are generally prone to react in a sexual way to female children, and only the pubic region, and to some degree the buttocks, elicited clearly distinctive reactions.

Pedophilia and heterosexuality vs. homosexuality.

There was a large difference between the proportion of prevalences of heterosexual vs. homosexual offenders against children on the one hand and the proportional prevalence of gynephilia vs. androphilia, which suggests that the development of erotically preferred partner sex and partner age are not independent of each other.
