Corsican myrtle was found to contain α-pinene and 1-8-cineole as major components and belongs to the α- pinene/l,8- cineole chemotype.
Essential Oils of Myrtle (Myrtus communis L.) of the Mediterranean Littoral
The chemical compositions of 15 commercial samples of essential oils of leaves of Myrtus communis L. from five different Mediterranean locations were studied and can be compared to those of Spanish oils.
Fumigant Insecticidal Activity and Repellent Effect of Five Essential Oils and Seven Monoterpenes on First-Instar Nymphs of Rhodnius prolixus
Evaluating the fumigant and repellent activity of five essential oils and seven monoterpenes on first-instar nymphs of the bloodsucking bug Rhodnius prolixus Stahl found them to be lesser than that produced by the broad-spectrum insect repellents N,N-diethyl-3-methylbenzamide (DEET).

Essential oil composition of two myrtus communis L. varieties grown in North Tunisia.
Two Myrtus communis varieties were studied in order to investigate their essential oil yield and composition and showed a composition characterized by a high percentage of monoterpene hydrocarbons in leaves, largely due to alpha-pinene.
Flavor characteristics of lapsang souchong and smoked lapsang souchong, a special Chinese black tea with pine smoking process.
The aroma constituents of tea origin decreased during the smoking process, whereas the pine terpenoids and the thermal pyrolysis products of the pine wood increased markedly.
