Senecionine (SEN) is a representative of the hepatotoxic pyrrolizidine alkaloids. Although phase I metabolism for cytochrome P450-mediated metabolic activation of SEN was investigated extensively, phase II metabolism for glucuronidation of this compound has not been investigated until now.
